Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is a four-year undergraduate vocational program which provides professional training to students for the hospitality and new inventions in catering technology.

The main aim of the four-year course is to make students familiar with management techniques, processes, and methods used in hotel and hospitality businesses. The key areas of BHMCT are accounts, desktop, administration, front office, housekeeping, catering, maintenance, security, and catering. Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT) Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification Required: 10+2 / Class or equivalent examination from a recognized board / university

Minimum Marks Required: 45% aggregate marks (40% for reserved category candidates). This requirement varies from college to college

English as a subject is mandatory.

Age Limit: Age Limit for the B.H.M.C.T. program varies from college to college. For most of colleges, the age limit is up to 22 years.

BHMCT Admission Process

Admission to the BHMCT course is provided on the basis of entrance exams. The national-level entrance exam conducted for BHMCT admissions is NCHMCT JEE (National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam). The NCHMCT JEE or NCHM JEE is mainly conducted for admission to the IHMs. The score of NCHM JEE is also accepted for admission by many other colleges. The details regarding the admission process of BHMCT course can be found below.

Candidates interested in taking admission to the BHMCT course must first appear for the NCHMCT JEE or any other BHMCT entrance exam accepted by their choice of college.

  • The candidates who receive qualifying marks in the entrance exam are then called for central counselling conducted at the national or state level. Candidates who appear for institute-level entrance exams are shortlisted for the further process on the basis of merit in the entrance exam.
  • Candidates are then required to appear for counselling, in which they exercise their choices and are allocated seats on the basis of merit and personal preference.
  • Colleges may also conduct Personal Interviews for the final selection of candidates.
  • Some colleges also offer direct admission to candidates on the basis of Class 12th merit.
